AutoCAD Plant 3D Review

P&IDs documents can be orepared along with the orhtographic views. Every element has a separate P&ID of its own. Ortho drawings can be prepared of struture.

Pros

This software allows to create and edit P&ID and 3D models, it can also extract piping orthographics and isometrics with the comprehensive design toolset. Multiple file can be opened in a single session.

Cons

BEST of Plant 3D

We are working on Intel project in they are creating a assembly line for manufacturing it will reduce overall project cost by 15-20% because of less pipe waste and kess time for installation.

Pros

Plant 3D is can be used to create a big piping system in plant and that software give us 3D model before the actual installation. Iso that it generates are so good have almost every detail that need for the plant piping installation.

Cons

It take large processing time. During the modeling charging its view it difficult and database management is not simply.The administration part of creating line is difficult process.

Engineering services and smart design work with cost cut down. Accuracy and time saving, can view multiple viewports in single window.

Pros

Piping design is very easy to route and equipment modelling. Modelling is very easy with accurate dimensions.

Cons

In specifications pop-up window only specs long or short description will show. Identifying components bit difficult. if we add item code column in spec pop-up window easy to identify.

P &I'd some cases as per line no service or spec is not exactly executing in 3d while assigning line tags

A totally based on manufacturing of piping and and a whole projec with an actual sizing and fittings.

Cons

The software charges and the understanding of software. The interface is not easy.

Drawing smart P&ID's, 3D piping design and iso/MTO generation with autoplant 3D

Use plant 3D in combination with navisworks.

Pros

P&ID module: Autoplant ensures that there is no double tagging for valves or lines. Automatic line breaks at crossing lines. Possibility to make client specific tool pallettes.

3D: slope adjustment for piping is really intuitive and works great.

Integration of 3D scans in the model. The possibilty to 'cut' the pointcloud in the drawing itself is really nice. Before I had to use a second program to control the 3D pointcloud.

A lot of different designers can work on one project. We can split the project in small pieces and use xref to connect to the adjacent piece.

Integration of the drawings in navisworks for 3D reviewing.

It's really easy to integrate 3D blocks from suppliers in our 3D model.

Cons

If one of my designers is active in the project, I can't change anything the project manager module. Would like that to be changed.

Isogen can fail sometimes. We use a lot of special equipments in our line of work, isogen can't handle it sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
